Harris notes that the amount of online
adults with high-speed has risen rather rapidly over the past two
years, from 22% as of March 2002 to 27% by the end of 2002.
Harris surveyed 2,033 adults in the US between November and December 2003 and also determined that currently 69% are online in general. The number of adults online has grown substantially since the end of 1999 when 56% were making Net connections, but has reached a plateau since mid-2001.
In its April 2003 report, Broadband Worldwide, eMarketer reported that it expected the number of broadband households in the US to total 24.2 million by the end of 2003. This estimate represents roughly 34.3% of total online households in the US, a number that further supports the Harris estimates for the end of 2003.
